Happy 4th of July my friends. Hoping you're having a great day & spreading ❤
A video I found interesting that was recently published by the Post Falls, ID Police Department:
Myths, Misconceptions and Realities Associated with Police Use of Deadly Force
As USB thumb drives and memory cards get larger and cheaper, it's getting easier to trust much more of your data to them. It's also much easier to mistakenly erase data or have them hiccup on you. And if you're in the habit of holding on to that data for too long -- for example, not transferring photos from your camera's memory card -- disaster is almost guaranteed to strike at some point. What happens then?

Lossless trimming is the ability to trim, cut or extract segments of audio & video without re-encoding the original multimedia streams, maintaining both the original frames/samples and their related metadata. It is a process as old as digital video itself, and one that can be extremely helpful when dealing with hundreds or thousands of hours of digital video evidence for a case.
Reduce file size, reduce duration and maintain the original frames & quality. Bonus, the process is even faster than traditional editing, as you don't have to wait for the video to be re-encoded!
Spatial (Intraframe) compression is applied to each video frame independently, treating each frame as a stand-alone image. This is the type of compression leveraged by high-end video production facilities as it provides superior picture quality and efficiencies in the editing process. Every frame is a key frame.
I was out in Indianapolis last week to assist with the LEVA Level 1 training course. Another great week of forensic video and DME training provided by LEVA, and hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
It was an action packed week both in the classroom and out with students learning and practicing DME fundamentals, and the City bustling with NBA playoff and Indy 500 activities. Thank you to LEVA, their staff, my employer Ocean Systems, and the students for such an incredible opportunity.
Safe travels home everyone and have a great holiday weekend!
You've seen it in countless movies and television shows: A forensic video analyst magnifies and clarifies grainy surveillance footage of a person's face or a license plate to get the key piece of evidence to catch the killer. While some of the details are exaggerated in Hollywood scripts, such tools do exist and they are frequently used to identify and prosecute offenders.
Absolutely nothing, and I'll say it again. Absolutely nothing.
The more eyes on you, the more you're likely to be someone else's next target. Trust me on this one, please.
Fame doesn't equate to money. Fame doesn't equate to success. Nor happiness. Nor balance. Nor worth. Nor intelligence. And if you think it does, boy are you in for a surprise.
Keep your head down, dummy, unless you are intentionally trying to draw enemy fire.
Good luck with that. 😎
